Walking with snowshoes is a fun way to get outdoors in the winter, allowing you to go off-trail in deeper snow without sinking in! Join Adventure Borealis for a special opportunity to go on a snowshoe hike around the Arctic Audubon Riedel Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 13, from 11:00 am to 3 pm. This will be an opportunity to learn about this treasure of a Reserve and explore a few miles of the various trails through a variety of Boreal habitats from old birch stands to upland black spruce to towering white spruce.
This outing is beginner friendly and no experience is necessary to try on some snowshoes and go for a quiet walk in nature.
The terrain is rolling, with some inclines. We will likely cover 2-4 miles depending on the group.
Register here: https://adventureborealis.org/product/snowshoe-walk/
Select “reserve snowshoes” if you’d like to borrow some.
Limited to 10 participants due to parking constraints. Learn more about the 320 acre Reserve here

Run for the Refuge is a fun trail run historically held in July to celebrate the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, to support our programmatic work to keep development out of this sacred place. This year we are not having an in-person run, but instead inviting people to run, walk, hike, bike, paddle, or do any human-powered activity during the weekend of July 12-14 in solidarity with those defending the Arctic Refuge. Join our Facebook Event Page to discuss your routes and get inspired. Use #RunForTheRefuge and tag @NorthernCenter on social media to share your adventures!
