Camp Habitat

Camp Habitat is a nature and ecology camp for kids that takes place at Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge. Every summer since 1990, local children have enjoyed guided explorations of the forests, fields, ponds, and other wetlands on the refuge. Campers learn about the natural history of Interior Alaska through engaging activities, games, hikes, projects, and guest speakers. They will explore the natural world through themes such as plants, animals, birds, fish, habitats, and people and the environment.

The preschool program offers half-day sessions for two weeks in June. The elementary school program offers full-day sessions for two separate weeklong camps in July. All sessions are taught by skilled instructors and assisted by junior counselors. Throughout the week, guest specialists share their knowledge on insects, farming, forests, and other hands-on subjects. All curricula are designed to be developmentally appropriate. Camp Habitat helps youth discover what makes where they live special!

Camp Habitat is sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the Northern Alaska Environmental Center, and the Friends of Creamer’s Field. Register your child here: https://friendsofcreamersfield.org/camp-habitat/
